Walmart Foundation awards $30,000 grant to Memphis Conference's 'Reelfoot Rural Ministries'
Reelfoot Rural Ministries (RRM) in Obion, Tennessee, was the recipient in 2017 of a $30,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation's State Giving Program, according to Rev. Robert Craig, RRM's executive director.
Craig said the funds are being used for RRM's grocery assistance program for families in Northwest Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky and its Backpack Buddies program serving students in the Lake County School System,
“RRM’s grocery assistance ministry remains a vital resource to more than 300 households per month in the service area,” said Craig.
“This generous grant from the Walmart Foundation will help us continue to meet the increased needs of our neighbors in times of financial stress. Additionally, this grant will allow us to expand on the way we offer resources and hope to our Reelfoot Lake neighbors.”
RRM is an extension ministry of the Memphis Conference of the United Methodist Church dedicated to serving the needs of individuals and families in Northwest Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky through services such as food assistance, day care, home rehabilitation projects, and dental and vision clinics.
