Ross United Methodist Church hosts sixth annual Charles Connell Scholarship Banquet on Feb. 24

John Emison, mayor of Alamo, Tennessee, was the keynote speaker for the Charles Connell Scholarship Banquet on Feb. 24 at Ross United Methodist Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

"Sowing Seeds" was the theme for the sixth annual event.

The banquet celebrates a scholarship fund by the United Methodist Men  of Ross UMC that is named after the late Charles Connell of Tigrett, Tennessee, and supports students from Alamo, Dyersburg and Tigrett, Tennessee.

Students currently receiving support from the scholarship fund are:

  •           Marcus Ivy-Middle Tennessee State University
  •           Milo Lumpkin-Georgetown College      
  •           Kendra Lyte-University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
  •           Jamil McMurry-Berea College
  •           Banita Simmions-United States Navel Academy
