Nov. 16 is annual joint Thanksgiving meal of Heartsong UMC & 'Memphis Islamic Center'
On Thursday, Nov. 16, Heartsong United Methodist Church and Memphis Islamic Center in Cordova, Tennessee, near Memphis, will have their joint annual Thanksgiving dinner.
More than 300 people, Christian and Islamic, will assemble at 6:30 p.m. at Heartsong Church, located at 800 N. Houston Levee Road.
"This Thanksgiving dinner celebrates the friendship that was formed when the people of the Memphis Islamic Center, with no place to worship during their most holy days, were invited to use Heartsong Church for their services," explained Rev. Chris Eaves, Heartsong's lead pastor. "That invitation made world news and was both celebrated and condemned around the world."
