May 8 is extended deadline for submissions for 'Young People's Address' during Annual Conference


May 8 is the new extended deadline for young people to submit an address to be considered for delivery at the 2017 Memphis Annual Conference. The previously-announced deadline was April 14.

Any member of a United Methodist Church in the Memphis Conference (West Tennessee and Western Kentucky), age 12 – 25, may submit an address for consideration until Monday, May 8.

The address will be delivered during the 2017 Memphis Annual Conference, June 4-6, at Collierville United Methodist Church in Collierville, Tennessee, by the young person whose submission is selected by a review committee of the Memphis Conference Board of Lay Ministry, sponsor of the address. 


  • Manuscript (not to exceed a 12-minute delivery) should be double-spaced and include a cover page with the name, age/grade and contact information of the young person submitting it AND the name of the young person’s home church. This may be a Word or PDF document.
  • Manuscript should answer this question: What does it mean to serve God and neighbor?
  • Young person submitting chosen/winning manuscript must be available to deliver the address during the June 4-6 session of the 2017 Memphis Annual Conference.
  • Manuscript must be received (via mail, fax or email) by no later than May 8:
