Hymn writing contest announced for 2020 Memphis Annual Conference

1/2/2020

By Dr. Mark Matheny, History Task Group Coordinator, 2020 Memphis Annual Conference

Create new messages in music! As part of the celebration of the 180-year history of our Memphis Conference, you are invited to write new hymns.

2020 (June 8-10 in Germantown, Tennessee), will be our last Memphis Annual Conference

During worship we hope to include two new hymns—one celebrating faithful heritage and one bridging the way toward our connection as the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference that will gather for the first time in 2021.

Friday, March 20, is the deadline for hymn submissions. A representative panel of judges will make the selections, with possibly more than only two forwarded on for future use. No commercial or pecuniary interest will be allowed, so lyrics may be paired with existing public domain tunes or set to new music. Email submissions to me at memtheny@gmail.com.

If you have questions or suggestions, please email me at memtheny@gmail.com

May our lives by faith be in harmony with the melody of God’s Love.
