Alignment news & address changes for new year

12/22/2020

From Bishop Bill McAlilly's Office
Nashville Episcopal Area

The dawning of a new year ushers a new beginning in our Episcopal Area. The beginning of 2021 marks the taking of the next faithful step toward the formation of the anticipated Tennessee Western Kentucky Conference. As approved at both the Tennessee and Memphis Annual Conferences in September 2020, further alignment of ministry and administration takes effect on January 1, 2021.

Among those aligning steps include the following changes in personnel and contact information for the Nashville Area Episcopal Office, the Memphis Conference Office, and the Stones River District in the Tennessee Conference.

Rev. Melinda Britt will become the area-wide Director of Connectional Ministries. The Rev. Dr. Richard Clark, who was serving as interim Director of Connectional Ministries in the Memphis Conference, will live into full retirement as granted by the Memphis Conference in September. Dr. Clark has served the Memphis Conference faithfully in filling this interim role and we wish him God’s blessing as he transitions to his retirement. Rev. Britt, the current Director of Connectional Ministries in the Tennessee Conference, will assume the role for the entire episcopal area effective January 1, 2021 as the work of our new conference moves toward our new structure. This step continues the momentum of alignment to support the mission of the Episcopal Area.

The Nashville Area Episcopal Office moves to the Tennessee Conference Center. The General Board of Discipleship staff has made a shift to ongoing remote work as a result of COVID-19. Maintaining a large office building at the Grand Ave location was not a good use of resources. The General Secretary has decided to limit the building use to the first floor. This change caused the Episcopal Office (once occupying the third floor) to be relocated. It was decided to relocate the Bishop’s Office to the current Tennessee Conference Building as the best immediate solution. Therefore, all correspondence for the Bishop’s Office should be sent to 304 S. Perimeter Park Dr. Suite 2, Nashville, TN 37211. The phone number, 615-742-8834, remains the same.

The Memphis Conference Treasurer’s Office and Stones River District Office have new mailing addresses as a result of a shift to remote work. For correspondence with the Memphis Conference Treasurer’s Office please send mail to PO Box 258, Trenton, TN 38382. Payments and Connectional Commitment contributions will continue to be sent to PO Box 10667, Jackson, TN 38308.

Correspondence with the Stones River District should now be sent to PO Box 12191, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
