April 1 is deadline to submit resolutions for 2020 Memphis Annual Conference in Germantown, TN
April 1 is the deadline to submit resolutions for the 2020 Memphis Annual Conference, according to an announcement today from Rev. Tim Atkins, chair of the Memphis Annual Conference Committee on Resolutions.
Submissions may be written in English or Spanish.
Submissions should be emailed (with "resolution” in the subject line) to Robbin McCoy at firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to her at Memphis Conference United Methodist Church, 24 Corporate Blvd., Jackson, TN 38305.
Atkins wants to stress the difference between a motion and a resolution.
“A motion,” he writes, is the proper device for modifying any business that is a part of the annual conference agenda. A resolution is any proposal to gain annual conference action that is not part of the business or agenda of annual conference. One who desires to gain annual conference action on any issue that is beyond the scope of the actual business agenda of the conference should submit a proposed resolution to the Committee on Resolutions by April 1.”
Any Memphis Conference member, church or church group may submit a resolution.
The Committee on Resolutions will review all submissions received by the deadline to prepare them for presentation during the 2020 Memphis Annual Conference.
The 2020 Memphis Annual Conference will take place Monday through Wednesday, June 8-10, in Germantown, Tennessee – at the Germantown Performing Arts Center and Germantown United Methodist Church.
