Memphis and Tennessee Conferences together raise $574,281.82 for 'Imagine No Malaria' campaign

The Memphis Conference, in partnership with the Tennessee Conference,
has raised more than half a million dollars for Imagine No Malaria as of June 30, 2015. 

"We give thanks to God for the generosity of United Methodists who across the last year have given sacrificially to Imagine No Malaria. Thousands of lives are being saved because of your faithfulness! Thanks be to God!" said Bishop William T. (Bill) McAlilly on July 8. McAlilly is resident bishop for the Nashville Episcopal Area that includes the Memphis and Tennessee Conferences.

Total money raised in the Nashville Area (Memphis and Tennessee Conferences) through June 30, 2015 is $574,281.82

  • Memphis Conference (400+ churches in West Tennessee and Western Kentucky): $231,682.43

  • Tennessee Conference (600+ churches in Middle Tennessee): $342,599.39

First fruits of the campaign were received during the 2014 Memphis Annual Conference (June 1-4 in Paducah, Ky.) at the request of Bishop McAlilly. Contributions continued to be received during 2014-15, at the 2015 Memphis Annual Conference (May 31-June 3 in Jackson, Tenn.) and through the end of June 2015.

Established in 2008, the Imagine No Malaria seeks to end malaria through education, communication and treatment.

~ Even though the Memphis Conference changed the number and names of its districts on April 23, 2015,
the tracking of donations for Imagine No Malaria continued to be sorted by the Memphis Conference's

~“Other” includes rollover funds from 2013, cash and individual checks received at 2014 and 2015 Memphis Annual Conferences, funds from Nashville Area Episcopal Office, and funds given prior to 2014 Memphis Annual Conference and tracked by United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries.
~T-shirt sales proceeds are included in the Dyersburg District total.
