Election of delegates to represent the Memphis Conference of The United Methodist Church at General (worldwide) Conference and Jurisdictional (Southeastern U.S.) Conference in 2020 is one of many responsibilities of delegates to the 2019 Memphis Annual Conference, June 2-4 in Collierville, Tennessee.

Jurisdictional delegates will serve as alternate delegates to General Conference. Alternate lay and clergy delegates to Jurisdictional Conference also will be elected.

Clergy delegates are selected from clergy members in full connection and are elected by deacons and elders in full connection, associate members, provisional members who have completed their educational requirements and local pastors who have completed the Course of Study or have an M. Div. degree and have served a minimum of two consecutive years under appointment immediately preceding the election.
Lay delegates are selected from those who meet criteria stated in the 2016 Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church:

The election process allows for 2020 General/Jurisdictional Conference candidates to be added up until noon on Monday, June 3. Nominations received between May 1 and June 3 will be added to the electronic ballot, but will not be publicized in advance and nominees will not be allowed to submit any kind of statement. This is necessary because it must be verified that nominees meet requirements to serve as set forth in the 2016 Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church before their names can be placed on the delegate ballot.
