Hope in Action: Trauma-Informed City (free conference), Memphis, TN

Hope in Action: Trauma-Informed City
free community empowerment conference

Tuesday, May 7 | 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
University Center Ballroom, University of Memphis, 499 University Street

Poverty, incarceration, mental health, addiction and many other issues that plague Memphis are united by one common denominator: trauma: To create a healthier city, the root cause of childhood trauma must be addressed.

When a city is trauma-informed, the conversation shifts from “What is wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

This free conference is open to clergy, churches, faith-based organizations, families, volunteers and leaders, regardless of their belief system or denomination. All who feel they will gain something helpful from the forum are welcome to attend.

Participants will hear from speakers addressing four trauma tracks: adverse childhood experiences, criminal justice, poverty and prevention. Keynote speakers are Shannon Royce and Dr. Renee Wilson-Simmons
