Four United Methodists honored by HARC

Four United Methodists were among those honored as “HARCAngels” at the Sept. 28 Community Service Awards Celebration of the Highland Area Renewal Corporation (HARC) in Memphis.

The celebration took place at the University of Memphis.

Dr. Mark Matheny, who directs HARC, said the award recognizes "unselfish service in the University area or metro-wide." Click here to read more about the event.

Now retired, Matheny is a former pastor of St. Luke's UMC, located in the Highland Area of Memphis.

HARCAngels included:

  • Rev. Bernardo Zapata of Bartlett UMC
  • Gail Ganier and Sue Jones of Covington First UMC
  • David Day of St. Luke’s UMC
