Memphis Conference representatives were among more than 300 United Methodists who attended a briefing last week to learn about legislative issues that will be before General Conference, the denomination’s top lawmaking body, when it meets April 24 through May 4 in Tampa, FL.

The Pre-General Conference News Briefing took place Jan. 19-21 at the Tampa Convention Center where General Conference also will take place.

The group, which included General Conference lay and clergy delegates and United Methodist communicators, attended panel discussions on proposals that include changes to the ordination process, the Council of Bishops and the denomination's organization.

More coverage of the News Briefing, including video of the discussions, is coming to www.umc.org/gc2012.
